No, not the jeans you hope to squeeze back into - even though high school's long gone and babies keep widening hips and adding extra skin to that which needs to be tucked back into said jeans. No, I'll leave that for a whole different blog. I'm talking today's skinny jeans.
One of those "tag" thingies was going around a little while ago that posed this question:
What is one fashion trend you wouldn't be caught dead in?
Well, it may not have been quite so dramatic as that but....
Many people answered 'skinny jeans'.
You know, the tapered jeans that go inside the boot rather than outside the boot.
I told Steven the same thing.
Well, 10 years ago I swore I'd never wear capris.
...and guess what I own several pair of?

Do you own a pair?
What are your thoughts?

i don't own a pair, although my husband has tried to convince me to at least try them. i'm not sold. i think they look cute tucked into jeans and with flats on 13-year-old girls, i'm just not sure i could pull them off . . .
I have 2 pairs and I wear them tucked into boots or over boots/heels and they are AWESOME. But I dont ever wear them with flats. In the words of Posh Spice paraphrased of course--Skinny jeans and flats make every girl look like a golf putter--so no flats.
I too told myself I would never wear capris. Then I moved to TX!!!! As for skinny jeans. Don't own any, and don't plan on it. But now I say, "Never Say Never".
Cute shoes! But I don't own of those either.
Me in skinny jeans? I feel that in order to wear skinny jeans one ought to be skinny. So, I'm voting no on owning a pair. But then again, I don't own any pointy shoes either so it's pretty safe to say I won't give into the trend.
I've been thinking about your post ever since I read it (and posted already on it). Here are a few things I don't think I'd ever wear again no matter how popular:
-stretch pants that have the elastic that goes around the foot
-scrunchies in my hair
-jelly shoes
-mullets
I couldn't wear skinny jeans....even if I WANTED to!!! No thank you! And I'm a little surprised that you own a couple pair of skinny toed shoes! Are they even comfortable??? I'm just a t-shirt and jeans kind of girl. Maybe someday I will reach out of my comfort zone and snag me a pair of those skinny toed shoes. I'll be sure to send you a pic if that ever happens! PS...it's not cause I don't think they are cute...I love them. I just can't see how they could be comfortable!
Which one of your kids plays soccer again???
Go out and buy a pair. There is something about the name that just makes ya feel good when ya wear them. I swore I'd never wear the pointy shoes either and just recently went out and bought a pair of pointy black BOOTS! I love 'em.
no no NO. that's not for me for sure. I really can't stand skinny jeans!!!
now capris, I LOVE!
i agree with you. skinny what? my non skinny jeans give me the muffin roll already, why make it worse?
I think skinny jeans only look good on skinny people or girls that don't have big hips like myself. Therefore, I don't own any skinny jeans and will never own any because I know they don't flatter my body type. I did own some the first time they came around though. I think I was 8.
Hi this is Audra's cousin. I was browsing through blogs and saw this post! This is EXACTLY what I was thinking the other day. I was saying how skinny jeans are so ugly and I was so bugged that they were back in. But I too remember making fun of Capri's when they first came out. I really hope I never cave and own a pair of skinny jeans. Cute shoes by the way!
i predict that yes, you will have a pair in the near future. i said the same thing about the capris and the pointy shoes too. funny how that is!!
I'm gradually becoming a fan of the pointy shoes, but I don't know that I could ever do the skinny jeans thing. Never say never, I suppose.
Hey, you're a Jane Austen fan, right? I found a quiz that tells you which heroine you are.. kinda fun. I have a link to it on the sidebar of my blog. Check it out.
Leah Nicole:
no fair, you're a grad student that can still pull stuff like this off. Ask yourself "can I really see a mom of three in these jeans and stilettos"?
John:
for your information, Bradley's playing now. So na, na, na, na, na, na.
Bradley playing soccer is like Steven walking in a straight line. Neither of which I imagine is very successful.
Don't read into this because it truly is a general question, but do you have to be skinny to wear skinny jeans?
I only hope to wear MC Hammer pants again.
John,
You're lucky that I don't read into your comments/questions or we would have stopped being friends LONG ago.
I have come to the conclusion that, yes, you DO have to be skinny in order to wear these jeans. If you're not a size 4 or smaller (at my height), it's just not going to look right.
And let's be honest, some things just never look right, no matter how rockin' the bod.
I agree with your comment to John that some things just never look right, no matter how rockin' the bod!
I myself don't own a pair of skinny jeans. I don't think that I am tall enough to pull them off, and to be honest I am not sure that at this point I want to! I don't mind when other people wear them though.
It's me again - did you add some blonde highlights back to your hair? It looked like it in the pictures from the birthday party. Either way your hair is beautiful.
Never say never.. I don't own a pair, but when I am skinny, I will.
And when I do, blue eyeshadow and ratted bang will probably be back in style. can't wait!
I own some of those pointy shoes, and I still think they are ugly! I don't know what I was thinking.
I think I can safely say I will never wear a pair of skinny jeans. They don't make me feel skinny, and I doubt they ever will. I don't think them being in will change that...
However, when capri's came in style, I rejoiced, and vowed that I would continue to wear them even when they go out of style. It's nice to have different hot weather options.
