Music Muse

In my life, music has played a huge role.

I've played the piano since I can remember,

picked up the violin while pregnant with Bradley,

can sing like a canary  --but only in the shower,

owned concert tickets to Beastie Boys, Garth Brooks, U2 and Barry Manilow (quite a random range),

always involved in some music calling at church,

and worked at Sam Goody/Musicland longer than any other [paying] job in my life.

Someone once asked me what kind of cds I owned. I explained I had everything from Vivaldi to Rage Against the Machine; Celine Dion to Dr Dre; the soundtrack to Glory to Shania Twain; old school Shakira and Gypsy Kings as well as the 10th Anniversary album of Les Miserables. I've always loved music and as you can see (er, read), I don't discriminate.

So I can't help but wonder, who are you listening to right now?
Who inspires you?
Has music played an important role in your life?

At this exact moment I am listening to some Ben Harper. My other favorites are Jamiroquai, John Mayer, Simon and Garfunkel, and many others. I love music and it's fun to share it with Rebekah (well not all of it as she is ony 1 1/2.) I grew up playing the piano and later the guitar and it's kind of hard not being able to have my own music in my home now solely because I don't have the instruments. I seriously cannot wait until I am able to buy a piano, even an old used one, so long as it can be properly tuned!

I too love music. I don't own very many CDs, but that's just because I'm cheap. The radio is my best friend. I listen to quite a range. Although I never could get into rap. I like a little R&B, but the rest I love.

I don't know who inspires me. There are too many favorites to count. It depends on my mood, and what I am doing.

Huge! I love music. I am into folk right now, if you get a chance check out Brett Dennen-songs "Aint no reason" and "she's mine"- I also LOVE India Arie. I go through phases but these have been at the top of my list for a while now.

For me, the answer to your question changes with my mood. This season I'm back to my roots of being raised with western music as a child. I am especially enjoying Josh Turner and Jessi Colter. (Could also be due to this family we love so much who are choosing to stay in Texas and gain an accent.) I always keep Sting, Styx, Fleetwood Mac, Creedence Clearwater, Beatles, James Blunt, Van Halen, Jimmy Buffet, Rolling Stones, etc. on my Pandora play list. Who knows,,,,,,tomorrow will bring new and old favorites to my list. I love being a woman and changing my mind!

Your collection sounds like my collection. Don thinks I am crazy. I just tell him I am well rounded.

I'm not as musically talented as you (good thing life isn't a competition, I would lose everytime), but I love to listen to all kinds of music too. Last night Richard and I were listening to an old Ace of Base cd, we definitely have a wide variety. I hate to admit I listen to more itsy, bitsy spider than any person should have to, but my two year old loves it. She will grow up and then I *may* miss it.

I Want to Hear From You!
