Trading Places

I can't tell you the irony of the past two days. Steven and I have truly traded roles in the home. He's taking care of meals, bills, and cleaning. Meanwhile I work all day, come home, bathe the kids and feel pretty tired. My favorite of all this was this morning as I left, Steven called down to me as I was getting into the car and wanted to make sure I had taken the right keys. I double checked and sure enough, I had my keys and Steven has misplaced his. For any of you that know me, I'm a chronic key-loser. I laughed the whole way to work knowing Steven had become me.
I will say that our house hasn't been this clean in a while. I had lost all motivation when we decided to move. Steven's been doing an excellent job at something I wasn't too sure about. I'm not sure, however, how long both of us will last in our new roles. The kids are enjoying their time with Daddy and I'm enjoying my lunch breaks where I get to go Christmas shopping without using the art of stealth-shopping so the kids don't know that I've slipped their wishes into the cart.

I've been anxious to hear how it has all been going for you guys - that is awesome that Steven is taking on the Mr. Clean duties - I wonder what would happen around here if Jay and I swapped duties for a little while...I'm so OC about the way this house runs, I think it would take an adjustment period for me to get used to. How much longer to do you have?

Sounds like fun! I would love to do Christmas shopping alone also. It is amazing what you can hide and sneak into the cart without any of the three kids knowing though!

I am amazed at how well my husband is able to multi task and do laundry, cook meals, watch the kids, etc. when he's had the occasion and I've been gone (not that it happens that often) Aren't they great!? I am hoping, for my ego, that it wouldn't always be that easy for them, if they were to switch roles with us on a long term basis... since HOK's, my house isn't always perfectly tidy and clean!

Ha ha, I know all about the stealth-shopping! You gotta be sneakier than your kids...I think Mr. Mom is doing great too!

I think I would enjoy a role change for a while. I'm sure it makes you both appreciate what the other does for the family.

What a great experience for both of you! I love to see daddies taking care of their babies and their home! Why does it make me feel so good?

Dave has a hard time multi-tasking... It would be very interesting if we switched places! But, I feel so lucky to have a husband who is willing-- that's the key, right? Looks like you're lucky too.

Okay, I am super jealous of the peaceful lunch breaks you get! Peaceful shopping moments... It sounds like heaven... Although I know it would get old if this was your life, how fun for you to get a change of routine for a few weeks!

I Want to Hear From You!
