Mission

My little sister, Holly, received her mission call yesterday. I'm pretty sure I called about 15 times to check if the mail had arrived. I was very anxious and had butterflies every time I thought about it. My brother, Ryan who lives in Arizona, and I are the only ones who couldn't be there to watch her open it. So I did a little three-way phone call so we could all share in the news.

It was (and is) very exciting.

All the letter had written on it was a 1-800 number.

Okay, only a few people will get that joke.

She's going to be serving the Hartford, Connecticut English speaking mission.

First thoughts: History, New England, the Atlantic, Yale, Hockey, Wealth

Graham and Annie, you are the only people I know that have lived in Connecticut. I'd love to hear what you think.

Just so everyone is clear, I won the pool. I predicted a New England mission destination from the beginning. Pay up folks.

Congratulations, Holly!
We are excited for you and proud of you.

It's so beautiful there! My sister and her family live in Hamden, CT. My bro-in-law is the CES guy for the area and the institute director at Yale. We've loved going to visit, especially in the fall. Congrats to your sister!

Annie emailed me and wrote the following:
Mindy, that is so exciting for your sister! The mission president and his wife are soooo nice! They are actually old friends of my parents. President and Sister Johnson are their names. So when does Holly leave? CT is gorgeous (Hartford is a dive of a city) but what a neat mission-I believe that mission covers down to New Haven? If so, Yale's campus is amazing and she will love the New England atmosphere out there. There are so many neat people there that are ready to find the gospel through your sister. That is so cool she is going there! Thanks for sharing and tell her congrats on the call!

Mindy,
Ben's family is from that area--in fact before his Grandma died 7 years ago, she housed the missionaries for years. You'll have to go visit when she gets home!

I Want to Hear From You!
