Breaking Dawn

I had to finish the fourth and final book of the Twilight series before I could post about the night it came out.

If you're a dork, keep reading.

Some ladies and I headed over to Barnes & Noble for the midnight release. It was totally fun. First we met downtown for a delicious Italian meal (Thanks again to Tracy L*!).
Then for some crazy reason, my friend Angela actually talked me into dressing up like one of the characters. Can you say,"GEEK"!? I was feeling like a trekky for a while. Then when people actually asked to get their pictures with me I thought, 'nah, they're the trekky. I'm just a sucker for peer pressure.'

Here are some pics from the evening.
L to R: Me (with my huge head), Shannon, Angela, Shelley, Tracy, Michelle, Stacey.

We're pretty hot. Plus, "Edward" called during our appetizers and said that "he'd take care of the meal." So cute to whomever set that one up!

L to R: Shelley, Moi, Angela, Stacey

According to the judges, I was runner up for Victoria....I swear it looked way cooler in real life. Then again, I was wearing espadrilles and I'm not sure Victoria hunted in those; Alice, maybe.

I need another release to come. Those midnight parties are about as wild and crazy as a Mormon gets.

I kept reading, so I guess that makes me a dork, huh? How fun! Poor Shane went and stood in line to pick it up for me at midnight and I stayed home with the sleeping little one because I was not feeling fantastic. I just finished yesterday, though. Definitely need another release sometime in the future to look forward to!

What a fun night! I loved it! We can just make up another one...after all, the bride get up really helped out! That would work any day of the week. Let's try 6th street this time and see what happens.

We might get a really long lecture if we attempted that one though!

T said that as we were leaving, decked to the nines, he imagined Sa with her friends in a few years. SCARY!!!

Thanks for the fun!

Okay... sorry... but I am having a bit of a hard time with the Twilight series. As a DIE HARD Anne Rice and Bram Stroker fan, I am having a very difficult time adopting Sister Meyer's vampire "folkology". I only got part way through the first book and have not been able to get back into it. Am I missing something?

You look awesome!

You're probably not missing much. I never read Anne Rice's stuff. And to be honest, these books have a great first couple of chapters, retarded middles and fantastic endings. This last book pissed me off for about 300 pages.

Also, I'd probably never let any teenage girl read these. Bella (the heroine) has a terrible self esteem and seems to think she'll only be worth keeping once she's indestructible and vampirishly beautiful. Plus, I don't believe in soul mates. And I'd die if my kid ever reacted to a break-up like she did....especially in high school.

Ya, wouldn't want to put any of those ideas into a 14-year-old girl's mind.

You are so cool, I'm glad you're my friend. Victoria is one of my favorite characters in the books - so evil!!!!

You are a dork. The book isn't real. Just like Star Trek. They were actors.

Dang. Now I feel bad because I can just picture your curled up in the corner crying. Fine. They're all real.

Who knew I'd read a whole series of vampire books! :) But ya gotta love them, right? It's good to see some fellow "Twilight" dorks. :)

I check your blog every once in a while and you always make me smile...or laugh out loud. What a cute and clever girl you are.
