Question of the Day

Emmy's been tantruming.

I'm not even sure if tantrum can be a verb. It must be.

However, soon "Emmying" is going to be a verb. She's a pro.

She's been holding out on us. This "terrible twos" thing people talk about is just a farce. Emmy has the will power of a 17-year old, the tenacity of a 21-year old and the stubborness of a 74-year old. I feel like as parents we're pretty good at NOT giving in, but we occasionally feel like we walk on egg shells when she's in one of her moods and we don't have the strength to deal with her.

The other night she went on for about 4 hours. At midnight, when she was finally spent, she simply sighed (after yelling and screaming continuously) and said, "Okay, I'm done. Sorry."

Really. You're done, huh. Just like that?

So today Steven said it best when he asked: Why does it seem that I'm more afraid of Emmy than she is of me?

That's not how it's supposed to be, right?

Is it bad that this entry made me laugh? I guess it is a good thing she is so darn cute.

Hormones...

You don't need a PA to tell you that. Er, or a seminary teacher, either.

Give Emmy a big hug from Uncle Bri and then give her a carrot to snack on. That should keep her busy for most of the day.

We love you Emmy! Don't let your parents harsh on your buzz! Just keep being you...Don't change. Especially at midnight...

I like this post because sometimes, based on everyone's blog entries, I think everyone has a perfect life but me:) Now I know I'm not alone! Kids ARE hard work! You're a good parent to just make her cry it out and not give in...even after 4 hours.

Ya, so I've been more afraid of the baby than he is of me (for example, will he cry at me if I set him down?). Good luck!

Honestly, I am terrified of having a girl for this very reason. I do not know what I would do if my child flipped out.. probably lock them in their room or put them in the dryer or something. Today I am grateful for non-emotional but very energetic boys. good luck on that one....

she IS an absolute doll, though.

I agree with Janet.

So when my littles ones are acting up it is because they want attention. Although there are sometimes other reasons for their odd behavior. I hear that often happens with the middle child although I don't have one. They aren't the biggest - in school, etc. And they aren't the baby - those little ones require a lot of attention. The middle one often gets lost in the shuffle. Just a thought from my wise friend (once a missionary companion) who has 3 little ones.

I laughed out loud when I read this post... especially the "Okay, I'm done. Sorry." I'm just glad to know that my Sophia isn't he only one who acts like this... No, I'm really, really, really glad to know that there's another three year old who might rival her for the title of best drama queen. I'm not the only parent who walks on eggshells once in a while (I just plan on letting her open the garage door, because if I don't, it's almost a guaranteed tantrum trigger... so random!) Good luck, let me know when you figure out the secret!

I Want to Hear From You!
