Karma

Steven and I left ALL THREE kids last night so we could go play co-ed volleyball. I know sounds fun. It was. For about 11 minutes.

Maybe I wasn't supposed to leave Olivia quite yet. Maybe I shouldn't ever accompany musical numbers on Sunday. Maybe I'm just not supposed to play team sports.

I'm guessing the latter.

Because I'm pretty sure my hand is sprained/jammed in three different places after landing on it when I was playing volleyball last night.

I feel super cool.
Not great lighting. It's really hard to take a good picture with your left hand. Especially when your right-handed. These might give you a better comparison between my left and right hand.

If my ring finger and pinky finger look like their bent unnaturally towards each other that's because they are. The picture doesn't quite capture the discoloration and bruising that's beginning to form. It's quite lovely. It's taking me 7x longer to type this thing because I'm plunking out keys with my usually un-used left hand.

I was supposed to play the piano during sacrament meeting. I guess that won't be happening. Oh, and wouldn't you know it: Steven's on call this weekend.

Looks like I'm sticking to golf and snowboarding. Oh wait, it's too hot to golf and it doesn't snow here. I guess I'll just have to buy a boat and begin wakeboarding full-time - as soon as my hand heals.

I hate to tell you that the first time we ever left the boys with a sitter while we were away having fun, we had a kitchen fire the morning we returned. The FD was great and we had to "order out" for a while. Don't let this Karma stop you from going out again. We love the stories.

I'm all about the ordering out!

Jessi: Give me little while on the socks. Crocheting isn't so easy right now.

I feel your pain! I've had multiple hand injuries playing volleyball and basketball. Hope they heal soon.

I have done that, except for it was my foot and toes. i dropped a 5 gallon bucket of laundry detergent on it that was over 1/2 full trying to get the bucket that it was stacked in, off. (We had water overflowing from the bathtub upstairs through my parents dining room... it was lovely.) I also lost my big toe nail in the process. If I never have that experience again, I will be happy! Hope it heals soon!

Your hand looks hideous.

Weren't you a cheerleader in highschool? That is like dancing...so, grace is typically involved, right? How could this happen?

Really, I feel bad for you. It reminds of the first time we left Landon with a babysitter. Something happened. I can't recall. Oh, ya, we saw a movie and had dinner. So...it is kinda like your experience. Kinda.

We send our love...may you be healed!

Oh Mindy! That makes me hurt! I couldn't imagine the pain you are in. Poor thing! Sorry that happened especially to your dominate hand.

Oh and I love side pony tails! :)

Looks painful! I am so sorry. I would have loved to played volleyball with ya'll. My favorite sport! I never had any fingers look like that though thank goodness!

OUCH!! Rocky loves volley ball but I won't play cause I always end up with bruises on my wrists! so I say, you just shouldn't play volleyball! lol

I empathize - I thought I broke mine when a giant jar of applesauce landed on my middle finger and it immediately swelled giantically. I couldn't play volleyball for a long time - which we were doing every week. Bottom line is - breaking a finger SUCKS - you can't do any fun things ..and it seems like your kids always want to hold on or play with the hand with the funny bandage..or in my sons case...he always wanted to ram trucks and cars into that hand (with the big bandaid!)

I Want to Hear From You!
